I got this Yost cable to set up a practice lab with some old Cisco equipment. I was able to use PuTTy and TeraTerm to console into a Cisco 2821 router and a Cisco 3560 switch. Also, I used it on a Cisco 1841 router without any issues. I would recommend this as a replacement for the old serial cable.

Great single piece unit with the micro controller in the usb end. I am very happy with this item and the only negative was windows 10 did not pick up the driver right away. Tho a quick download and everything was working fine.

I successfully used this cable to plug in a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter to my Mac Laptop (with the appropriate USB-C dongle of course). Registers as an IO device in /dev/ and I issued the screen command to that device and voila.

I needed this for Windows 7 the instructions said for Win 7 you have to go to a specific address listed in the instruction sheet for the Win 7 drivers, I went to that address and it was nothing but junk ad links no drivers for this specific product just those all encompassing junk driver updaters. I did get it working by going to the device manager and allowing it to search for drivers and that worked.

I bought this cable for console access into a Cisco 2960 switch and it works as advertised. When I first connected my laptop which runs Windows 10 to the switch, the COM port wouldn’t show up on my laptop but in a few minutes, the drivers automatically installed in the background and I was able to console in via Putty.

Console cable works as advertised. Cable seems sturdy and durable. Not much to add other than the quality does not dissapoint. Pricing is reasonable and it has worked with no issues for me from day one. There are several other choices from other vendors and I doubt they are substantially different. Have a laptop without a serial connector? Get this instead!
